Taken from http://cebuano-eskrima.blogspot.com:
Joe Go or Jose Millan Go was one of the least-known students of Venancio "Anciong" Bacon, the originator of the Balintawak style of eskrima. Joe Go, in turn, was also the originator of Tat Kon Tou and Gokosha. He was also the originator of the Balintawak-derived Palakabanate style of eskrima.
Many people said he was a good martial artist, a great eskrima fighter. I cannot comment on that, since I never had the privilege of seeing him fought somebody. But I saw many of his students, my seniors actually, performed well. I can only guess that he was probably good, in order to produce good students. I heard many stories about his fight, though.
There are many practitioners of knife fighting and stick fighting at some point in time when they begin to wonder and look for a more challenging and more intelligent way and system of fighting.
Yes, I agree that all martial arts have always a special feature in the art. That all martial arts need to be respected and that all have something to contribute in the martial arts world.
Many can do fancy kicks, and there are those that can exhibit quick short and long drills.
But there is one thing that I notice; only a very few martial arts really focus on the head-body-arm-legs-(limbs)-mind-spirit coordination. What ever it is called; there are only a very few martial arts that have a holistic approach to coordinate man as body-mind-spirit.
If you know of some martial arts that offer this training, system, or approach---please let us know. We will appreciate it very much.
You may leave it in our comment box below for others to read and link to.
By the way, I know of one and it is known as GoKoSha. Though hardly it is taught by everyone. This is only taught at what they call the advance level (and I believe advance does not mean the skill level---but your trust worthiness.)
